Harris Kafkarides

 

 

Born in Nicosia in 1978, he studied at Central Saint Martin’s College of Art & Design, where he earned a BA (Hons) in Theatre: Design for Performance and an MA in Scenography.

His extensive portfolio includes collaborations as a set and costume designer with the Cyprus Theatre Organisation (THOC), as well as independent companies such as Satiriko, ETHAL, Theatro Scala, Theatro Ena, and Dionysos, alongside various ensembles in Cyprus and abroad. In 2006, he co-founded the PARAVAN collective, through which he created numerous performances, exhibitions, and festivals that garnered awards and distinctions both domestically and internationally. In addition to his creative practice, he taught scenography and drama, and since 2022, he has held the position of Head of Technical at THOC.

He was honoured with the Golden Triga award at the 15th Prague Quadrennial ("Spectators in a Ghost City", Cyprus National Participation 2023, THOC), and the Honourable Mention award for set design at the 10th Prague Quadrennial (“Trojan Women”, Cyprus National Participation 2003, THOC).
