A new adaptation of the beloved fairy tale that has been part of generations of childhoods opens the season at THOC’s Stage 018. Little Red Riding Hood, in a contemporary adaptation by Andri Theodotou and with the poetic directorial vision of Fotis Nikolaou, comes to touch the sensitive chords of audiences both young and old.
Life’s big and small questions, plenty of humour and a generous dose of imagination promise a performance that will take us on a journey into a magical world where anything can happen.
The journey of a child, Little Red Riding Hood, through the forest becomes a symbolic coming-of-age journey, in which the heroine is called upon to confront anxieties, desires and dilemmas. The Wolf, in a contemporary portrayal, functions both as an external threat and as an inner voice of uncertainty, while the forest transforms into a landscape of emotions, shapes and colours, where the heroine encounters unexpected allies and companions along the way.
The director’s rich choreographic background, combined with the explosive energy of the ensemble, creates a unique theatrical world suspended between reality and imagination. A story that takes us deep into the forest of Little Red Riding Hood’s dreams, speaking of the courage to move forward, to question our fears and to discover our own truth.
THOC brings together a creative team that combines experience, sensitivity and a contemporary artistic perspective, creating a distinctive world for its audience. Ecati creates an atmospheric musical landscape. Eleni Ioannou brings her distinctive contemporary aesthetic to the set design, while Sofia Mavromichali adds her magical touch to the costumes, bringing the beloved characters to life visually. The design and construction of the masks are by acclaimed mask-maker Martha Foka.
